About the Institute

Holdings Research Laboratory

・R&D headquarters, Toyo Ink SC Holdings Co., Ltd. (parent company)

Technology Development Laboratory
With the aim of building next-generation technologies for the Group's core businesses, Technology Development Laboratory conducts a wide range of research, from materials development to application technology development, in the fields of information and communications, environment and energy, life sciences, and their boundary domains. Specifically, it focuses on the development of new polymer technologies that are expected to be applied in the security and healthcare fields; the development of inorganic materials to realize a highly reliable ICT society; and the development of energy capture and control technologies to help realize “Society 5.0” and an energy recycling and low-carbon society.
Frontier Research Laboratory
With the aim of creating businesses in growth industries that will propel the Group‘s future growth, the Frontier Research Laboratory is engaged in comprehensive development from research to business models in advanced technology fields.
Under the SIC-II mid-term management plan, the Laboratory is working on the development of sensing data solutions for the IoT/DX market, and cell culture systems and high-sensitivity imaging systems for the biotechnology market, including regenerative medicine and drug discovery screening.
Analysis Technology Laboratory
The main objectives of the Analysis Technology Laboratory are to provide general analytical support to Group companies, evaluate compound safety, accumulate and utilize analysis technologies, and acquire new analysis technologies. In addition to physical properties, nanostructural analysis, and chemical composition analysis, the lab also conducts evaluation analysis of biological systems made up of cells and proteins, etc. In recent years, the lab has expanded its activities to include various informatics technologies, computational chemistry and image analysis in response to the digital transformation of R&D. It is promoting the spread of these technologies throughout the company's technical divisions.

・Production and Logistics Division

Production Technology Research Laboratory
We are working on production technology innovation with the aim of strengthening our manufacturing base. To develop innovative processes for synthesis, dispersion, and coating, which are the main production processes, we are conducting a wide range of research, from basic research on mechanism elucidation, molecular, crystal, and coating film structure control, and bioprocesses, to rational process design for industrialization. We are also working on the development of production monitoring systems that utilize data science and sensing technology to realize smart factories.
