Production & Logistics

As part of its efforts to achieve its SCC2017 vision, the Toyo Ink Group implements the production, logistics, and sales systems with an emphasis on the Group’s supply chain management (SCM). We desire to pass on to the next generation the corporate ethos that we have maintained, which reflects our stance of providing customers with superior products and technologies to contribute to wealth and culture. To do this, we aim to shift our approach to operational improvement from partial streamlining centering on specific departments or operations to consistent total optimization encompassing material procurement, production, transport, and sales, with a view to ensuring excellent quality, fair prices, stable supply, and swift services to meet customer needs.

In product manufacturing, facilities run by Group companies in Japan and other countries collaborate with the departments responsible for business strategies, technical development, sales, and other functions. We have also formed a global manufacturing structure unique to the Group, which centers on the Global Production Strategy Department and the Process Innovation Research Laboratory, among others. The Global Production Strategy Department offers support to the overseas manufacturing system while the Process Innovation Research Laboratory is in charge of developing innovative techniques for producing specialty materials on the basis of scientific thinking.

As for procurement, we are departing from the conventional approach in which individual companies and departments were responsible for purchasing materials for themselves and introducing a strategic global procurement system. This is part of our ongoing reform to ensure the stability of quantity, price, and quality in our product supply to our customers the world over.

With respect to logistics, our joint venture with Sakata Inx Corporation, Logi Co-Net Co., Ltd. takes the initiative in integrating transport and delivery operations and vigorously protecting the environment, for instance through active use of recycled containers, transition to rail transport (modal shift), and the promotion of manufacturing based on the principle of local consumption of local products.

In terms of sales, we endeavor to closely and swiftly respond to the needs of customers across Japan through a sales network comprising more than 20 sales bases nationwide. Outside the country, we have constructed logistics and sales networks matched with the Group’s global business activities to serve the whole world.
